Who we are

Nordica Accessibility Checker is a Shopify app made by Variegata Nordica (Mallory Berthomé) that checks a store for accessibility problems, helps fix them and writes an accessibility statement. Questions about this policy or your data: hello@nordica-apps.com.

What the app stores

• Your store’s address and Shopify access, so the app can open in your Shopify admin.
• Scan results: which pages were checked, the problems found and where, kept up to 13 months.
• Product photos and descriptions that have a problem: the product name, the photo link, its alt text and the suggested one.
• Changes you make with the app, with the value before and after, so they can be undone and shown in your history.
• Your store password, only if you enter it, so the scan can see a store that isn’t open yet.
• Messages you send with “Contact support” or “Suggest an improvement”, and the email address if you add one.
• Technical error reports: your store’s address, the page and the error, so problems can be fixed.

The app stores no customer data. The scan visits your storefront like a shopper would; it never submits forms or places orders.

Who processes the data

Cloudflare hosts the app, its database and the browser that scans your pages (under Cloudflare’s data processing terms). Shopify provides the store data and handles billing. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and no data is sent to an AI service.

What the app changes in your store

Only what you click: alt text on images, a product description’s empty links and headings, and the accessibility statement page, which is created once and only if you don’t have one. Every change can be undone for 30 days. The optional “Accessibility fixes” theme embed is turned on and off by you in the theme editor.

How long it is kept

While the app is installed. When you uninstall, your sign-in data is deleted at once and scans stop; 48 hours later, when Shopify asks for the store’s data to be erased, everything is deleted. Changes you made stay in your store: they are yours.

The app finds and helps fix many accessibility problems, but no automatic check can find them all. It isn’t legal advice or a guarantee that your store meets the law.
